I will begin this email with a simple humble flex to give my message some credibility..
In the first 7 days, Vik (an investment analyst from Singapore) had his first 100% pain-free workout.
Crazy to think he joined this newsletter in Feb 2023
Waited 18 months to join my program:
And then had his first pain-free workout within 7 days of joining.
Simultaneously, the sheer intensity of the business and client work (because it’s 1:1 bespoke) has made me realise how important is it to be on top of your game.
At ALL times.
It made me reflect back to when I had shoulder pain.
Each morning…
I’d drag myself out of bed (exhausted) from another night of restless sleep only to be greeted by my aching shoulder. That Ache intensified as I stirred my porridge on the stove.
Later, at the gym…
What should have been a productive workout turned into frustration.
I felt limited, constantly anxious about making my shoulder worse, and unable to push myself like I wanted.
The soreness would linger throughout the day, distracting me, hijacking my focus, and making it impossible to find a comfortable position at my desk—no matter how hard I tried.
The stakes weren’t high then.
I was 19.
But now, being a business owner, the stakes are MUCH higher.
It would cost me what?
Let’s say I get 50% of the work done because I’m distracted, and the quality of that work is 75% worse because I can’t get into flow…
On top of that:
The quality of my decisions are awful because I can’t focus…
OR process data effectively
(important for you guys out there following the markets)
See where I’m going with this?
The scenario above is applicable to those of you building your own businesses, or working in high powered jobs (like our friend Vik at the start of this email).
What are the stakes?
Because on top of all the other issues your pain creates
> Struggling to train consistently without pain.
> Losing progress on your hard earned fitness goals.
> Waking up each night in pain, unable to sleep properly.
There’s one most don’t consider…
Feeling pain or being uncomfortable is a distraction.
And distractions:
Make you do less work
Reduce your work quality
Destroy quality of decision
So if you want to perform at your best, be as productive as humanly possible AND avoid creating mediocre work (yuck) — you must remove this distraction.
Or you will fail miserably.
You should feel good ALL THE TIME.
And if you do not feel good ALL THE TIME (I’m talking 95% of the day, over all days), that is a problem.
Because when you are not in pain… and ARE comfortable, this clears up roughly 80% of your mental bandwidth.
And if you’re a high performer like my clients…
That is VITALLY important to you.
Your friend,
/Ollie Emberson
